Stand Up and be Blessed!

Stand Up and be Blessed!

In closing out our look at this passage, this theme, I would like to look at one more thing, being blessed by Jesus.

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered,

"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in Heaven.

It just struck me this morning that Jesus did not single Peter out for these questions; When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples. They replied...

He asked the group about popular opinion, and the group gave the standard answers. Then He asked them what they thought. One of them, Simon Peter, was bold enough to answer.

He boldy, publicly proclaimed the truth. And Jesus blessed him.

The world needs to know the truth. They always need to know, but it seems as if many hearts might be open in these times of anxiety.

If you boldly, publicly proclaim the truth, Jesus will bless you as He did Peter.

Try it.

Questions:

1. How is your anxiety level?

2. Have you ever publicly proclaimed Jesus?

3.Have you ever, in any forum outside of church, publicly proclaimed Jesus?

"The branch of the vine does not worry, and toil, and rush here to seek for sunshine, and there to find rain. No; it rests in union and communion with the vine; and at the right time, and in the right way, is the right fruit found on it. Let us so abide in the Lord Jesus." Hudson Taylor
